New member training for worker co-operatives

CBC has launched a course specifically designed for members, or potential members of worker co-operatives - and those who advise them.

In worker co-operatives, the workers own and control their enterprise - unlike most private, public and voluntary sector organisations. This presents new ways of working for most people, in addition to every workplace being unique.

This one-day course is designed to help:

  • People considering worker co-operatives
  • New members of worker co-operatives
  • Existing members and Directors of worker co-operatives
  • Business advisers

The training course will cover:

  • Co-operative values and principles applied to worker co-operatives
  • The roles and responsibilities of members
  • Code of Governance for worker co-operatives
  • Sources of further help and support

The content will include practical studies of successful worker co-operative enterprise and examples of some that did not work so well. Participants will gain a balanced understanding of the conditions necessary for worker co-operatives to work well.

Training mode tailored to your needs:

Presentation, seminar discussion, question and answer, supported by case study analysis. Each participant will receive a pack of handouts and guidance to take away. Lunch and refreshments are also included.

To maximise benefits to you, the course to run with at least 10 and no more than 18 participants. Location of training course will depend on the location of participants.
