Matt Wrack

Matt Wrack is General Secretary of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU), a member of
the TUC General Council and TUC Executive Committee. A firefighter and trade
unionist, he was elected as General Secretary of the FBU in 2005, 2010 and
again (unopposed) in 2014.

Born in Manchester in 1962 Matt became a firefighter with the London Fire
Brigade in 1983 working at various fire stations around East London until 2005.
He held various positions with the FBU while working as a firefighter, becoming
London FBU Regional Organiser in 2002 and Regional Secretary in 2004.

In 2015, under his stewardship, the FBU re-affiliated to the Labour Party.

Matt is a vigorous defender of trade union rights, and has campaigned against
racism, on climate change and other Labour Movement causes.

The “Building An Economy To Serve People And Not Profit” conference will take place in Manchester on Thursday 21st January (10am-4pm) in the Central Hall.
