In less than three days, over 300 people from across the co-operative movement have signed including Ken Loach, award winning film director; John McDonnell MP; Iain Macdonald, former Director General of the International Co-operative Alliance; Bob Cannell, SUMA; Jo Bird, Martin Meteyard, Co-operative Business Consultants; Jean Louis Bancel, Credit Cooperatif, France; Sean Farmelo and Mike Shaw, Students for Co-operation; Linda Ward and Jean Martin, members of Co-op Boards; David Thompson, Twin Pines Cooperative Foundation, USA; Roger Sawtell, founder of Daily Bread Co-op; and dozens of Area Committee members.
But we need more people to add their names. Please share, email and tweet www.change.org/p/save-our-co-op with anyone you think will be interested.
The Board and Executive claim that there could be a problem with the Group’s banking syndicate if the proposals are not passed. But this contradicts information in the public domain, and from insiders, which indicates that this is no longer a threat, with the sale of farm and pharmacy businesses. We need clarification on this score.
We will deliver the petition by email, and in person at the Co-operative Group’s service centre at Angel Square, Manchester M60 0AG, at 9am on Saturday 30 August – the morning of the Special General Meeting. You are welcome to join us in person, if you are able to.
Yours in co-operation
Jo, Phil, Martin, Karen and others in the team at Co-operative Business Consultants
